Mandy Glinsbockel is an award winning documentary and portrait photographer from British Columbia, Canada. She is driven by storytelling with a focus upon women's education, empowerment and their stories of challenges and triumphs against differing cultural and economic circumstances. An editorial contributor for Demotix Images and Corbis Images, her images have been licensed and published by clients such as National Geographic Society, UNICEF Finland, Girls Not Brides and within the pages of Photo District News Magazine as a winner of the 2014 World In Focus travel photography competition.
It is my intention to use imagery in service to initiatives & organizations working to create sustainable change in areas of women’s rights, education and empowerment, and for my work to inspire viewers towards both contemplation and action on behalf of those I photograph.
I believe the strength of imagery is in connection, and see the camera as a tool in dissolving the barriers between subject and viewer. Amidst our differing stories and circumstance, there is a core interconnectedness between each of us. It is my hope that my photographs are a catalyst in conveying this connection.
